Emerge Conference 2005

The Emerge Conference took place on 12 November 2005 at the Arts Depot, North Finchley, and was the starting point for the initial Emerge project.

The conference provided an opportunity for over 200 artists, advice organisations and local arts development officers to come together to discuss the key question ‘How can we create a thriving community of visual artists in North and West London?’

Artists’ responses to the key opening question were developed in ‘Open Space’ sessions led by arts consultant, Martin Leith. 20 groups of artists met during the afternoon to discuss ideas proposed by individuals at the conference, these included ‘Setting up a mural network’, ‘A network for travelling exhibitions’, ‘Sci-Art, projects and funding’ and ‘Network of Women Artists’. Fourteen of these groups were then interested in having an ongoing connection or developing project ideas.
